A handle that wobbles, spins, or snapped off in your hand is usually a quick repair. The trick is matching the right replacement to your door, and that is where most hardware store trips go wrong.

Sliding door handles are not universal. The distance between the mounting screws, the thickness of the panel, and the style of latch all vary from one manufacturer to the next, and even between model years. A handle that almost fits may leave the latch partly engaged, which looks fine but does not actually secure the door. We measure the hole spacing and identify the latch type before we install anything, and we carry a range of common handle sets on the truck.
If the handle itself is cracked, loose on the glass panel, or missing a piece, it is a handle problem. If the handle feels solid but the door will not latch, or the lever moves without resistance, the problem is usually the mortise latch inside the edge of the panel. We replace whichever part has failed, and often both when they are original to an older door.

We remove the old handle, inspect the latch and keeper, and fit a matched replacement. If the mounting holes are stripped, we repair them so the new handle stays tight. Then we adjust the keeper on the frame so the latch catches cleanly every time. The whole job usually takes under an hour.
If you are replacing a handle anyway, it is a good time to consider a keyed exterior handle, a stronger mortise lock, or a secondary foot lock for extra security. We will explain the options for your specific door without pushing anything you do not need. We handle this repair every week across Orlando, Dr. Phillips, Kissimmee, Winter Park, and the Space Coast, usually with same-day appointments available.
